Bea is set to leave tomorrow

Grace, Jurian, Katie and I spoke to Bea this evening and she is all set to leave tomorrow (April 26).

She sounded wonderful and super excited! She will be flying out tomorrow to London (9 hour flight) and then have a lay over in London for day. She indicated that she was going to take the tube into London and hopefully meet up with William & Kate before their big day on Friday. lol. After giving the future King & Queen of England some last minute advice on marriage she will be boarding a flight to Cape Town (11 hour flight). Once in Cape Town she will be getting ready to head out on April 28 on her trip across Africa. She will be traveling for 45 days, across 8 different countries and over 8000 kms.

We are all excited here and look forward to following Bea's wonderful adventure.

It is April 27th, heard from Dad that "so far so good" for Mom's travels-that's what we like to hear! Mom will be arriving in Capetown tomorrow!

Day1 April 28
Cape Town

Spitzkoppe

View thousands of seals basking on the shores of Cape Cross before gazing at the wonder of the rocky Spitzkoppe.

Days 11-12May7-8 Etosha National Park

From big carnivores to over 340 bird species, there's plenty to spot on game drives into the vast Etosha.

Day 13 May9 Grootfontein/ San Bushmen

Spend a night listening to the songs and stories of the San Bushmen and attempt to pick up a few words of their local 'clicking language'.

Days 14-15 May 10-11
Rundu/ BaganiCommunity Camp

Journey to Rundu, then to the vast swamps of Bagani.

Days 16-17 May 12-13 Okavango Delta

Explore the delta's reed beds and maze of waterways onboard a mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe.

Day 18 May14
BaganiCommunity Camp

Relax in laidback Bagani and perhaps enjoy some of the optional activities, from boat trips to fishing to hiking.

Days 19-20 May 15-16 Chobe National Park

Embark on an early morning game drive, then try to spy swimming elephants, wallowing hippos or sun-loving crocs on a cruise along the Chobe River.

Victoria Falls

Admire the might of thundering Victoria Falls.

Hwange National Park

A visit to the Painted Dog Conservation Group highlights the plight of the endangered African wild dog. Safari into the Hwange National Park to see one of the largest elephant populations on the continent.

Days 25-26 May 21-22 Bulawayo

Explore Zimbabwe's second largest city, then venture into the Matobo National Park to track rare rhinos on foot.

Masvingo

Explore ancient ruins then camp under the stars.

Harare

Discover the hidden jewels of Zimbabwe's capital at the galleries, museums and markets.

Blantyre/ Lilongwe

Travel through Zimbabwe and Mozambique to arrive in Malawi. Explore the markets and cafes of modern Lilongwe.

Days 31-32
May 27-28 Lake Malawi

Head to the less populated beaches, where water sports are on offer for the energetic. Alternatively, relax on the sandy shores and soak up the scenic surrounds.

Days 33-34 May 29-30 Chitimba/ Iringa

Forge through the green highlands and pitch camp in the grounds of a Tanzanian farmhouse.

Dar es Salaam

Cross Mikumi National Park spotting elephants, buffaloes and giraffes. Camp on a tropical beach outside Dar es Salaam.

Days 36-38
June 1-3 Zanzibar

Plunge into the sensuous delights of Zanzibar, exploring historic Stone Town, touring fragrant spice plantations and lounging under coconut palms beside the Indian Ocean.

Day 39 June 4
Dares Salaam

Return by ferry to balmy Dar es Salaam.

Day 40 June 5 Marangu

Camp in the grounds of a historic farmhouse surrounded by tropical gardens.

Day 41 June6
Mto Wa Mbu

Learn about the daily life of the Chagga people on a visit to a local village.

Days 42-43
June 7-8 Ngorongoro Crater/ Serengeti National Park

Admire this sprawling savanna, home to some of Africa's best game viewing. Back at camp in the evenings, listen out for animal calls.

Day 44 June9
Arusha

Pick up local handicrafts at a village market, then camp overnight on the outskirts of Arusha.

Day 45 June10 Nairobi

The adventure comes to an end in the bustle of Kenya's capital.
